Dr. De-an Guo serves as director of the Shanghai Research Center for TCM Modernization at the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his Ph.D. Degree of Pharmacognosy at Beijing Medical University in 1990 and engaged in his postdoctoral research at Texas Tech University, (1993-1996). He served as the President of GP-TCM Research Association from 2015 to 2017 and Chair or expert committee members of Chinese Pharmacopoeia, United States Pharmacopoeia and European Pharmacopoeia. At present, he is the Editor-in-chief, Associate editor or editorial board member of 18 international journals. To date, he has published 650 papers, among which 450 are the SCI cited articles with over 8000 SCI citations. He received a number of renowned national and international awards including Second Prize of National Natural Science Award (2012), American Botanical Council Norman Farnsworth Excellence Award in Botanical Research (2013), Cheung An Tak International Award for Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Medicine (2015), American Society of Pharmacognosy Varo Tyler Prize (2016), Second Prize of National Science and Technology Advancement Award (2016), National Innovation & Contending Prize (2017), and Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress (2017). His main research focus is on the quality and pharmacopoeia standard elaboration of Chinese herbal medicines.
